Clues of Past Activity
After years of practicing a “control and release” technique with the diluted painting, managing an amount of freedom and approach of collaboration with all the materials that participate in the making of the painting, this body of work offers a much more restrained and reserved method of painting. By covering the wet surfaces of the paintings with plastic sheets and bubble wraps, the vividness of the colors is being “suffocated”, and their beauty remains only as a faded ghostly appearance of what the paintings looked like in the past. Much like archaeological layers that suggest clues of past activity, these paintings encapsulate bodily activities and manipulations in a more hinted and discrete manner.
All works are diluted acrylic on canvas unless otherwise stated.
