The materials Reshef is using - natural and artificial, collected in the streets around her studio or in places she wanders around - can be interpreted as a reaction to her environment, or more generally to our environment and our relation to nature. These paintings allude to the genre of “Nature Morte”, as they present pieces of nature in a fossilized or ghost-like manner. The different sources of imprint, whether plastics that are toxic to the environment, or chopped-off vegetation she picks up from the ground, all comment on the fragile balance between growth and destruction, and emphasize common sources that surround us daily but are not fully seen for their functional importance and cultural symbolism.
